您好！首先请问您这边的身份是美国绿卡或公民，还是国际学生？是申请什么类型的助学金？我们今天说一下学费补助（Financial Aid），一般来说有这两类：
1、Need-Based Financial Aid，用于减轻学生的家庭财务负担，根据家庭经济情况决定补助的数额。
2、Merit-Based Scholarship，用于某些奖励优秀学生或有某方面特长的长线、吸引就读，根据学生的表现决定数额，这种与奖学金类似。
